The Big Checkered jute rug has a strong and medium-thick weave. This gives the rug a good firm feeling and weight. 
We have specifically chosen to work with jute, because the material has several unique properties. It is strong, natural, and durable.

We get single crop certified organic jute material that we colour with vegetable color to create a new type of expression and pattern of the rugs. The knots are made in a directional and spaced pattern to increase softness and make the rugs more comfortable to walk on barefoot.

Organic jute is a natural, plant-based fiber prized for its earthy texture, eco-friendliness, and durability, making it a popular choice for rugs. Harvested from the stalks of the jute plant, this fiber has a coarse, rustic feel and a golden, natural hue that brings warmth and an organic aesthetic to interiors. Known as the "golden fiber," jute has a natural sheen, giving it a soft luster that enhances its natural appeal.

For more stubborn stains, use a small amount of mild soap mixed with water on a damp cloth and carefully dab the stain. Be sure to blot immediately with a dry towel after to avoid leaving any excess moisture, as jute rugs are prone to water damage and mildew when wet. Avoid steam cleaning, shampooing, or soaking the rug, as excessive moisture can weaken the jute fibers over time and cause discoloration or mold growth.

To maintain its freshness, shake out the rug every few months by taking it outside and giving it a good shake to release trapped dirt. Keep the rug in a low-humidity environment, as jute fibers can be sensitive to dampness. By following these gentle but effective care steps, you’ll preserve the natural look, texture, and durability of your jute rug for years to come.

To initiate a return, email customercase@thatcooliving.com for authorization. A 25% restocking fee and return shipping costs will be deducted from your refund. Returned items must be in their original condition, unassembled if applicable, and in the original packaging.

For damage claims, report within 2 days of delivery. Include photos of the packaging before opening, pictures of the damage, and a copy of the signed Bill of Lading (BOL) highlighting the damages.
